X Marks the Spot: Numerous X Accounts Claiming to Be in Gaza Unmasked as Being Located Elsewhere

The internet is brimful with millions of posts at X (formerly Twitter), but until the other day, those posting could claim to be where they were not. This was especially common among those posting anti-Israel and antisemitic messages, many of whom pretended to be reporting their eyewitness accounts of IDF atrocities from Gaza, when they were thousands of miles away. Now Elon Musk has added a new feature to X, that correctly identifies the place where the poster is located. More on this blow for truth can be found here: “X location feature reveals origin of anti-Israel, antisemitic, and Gaza scam accounts,” by Michael Starr and Mathilda Heller, Jerusalem Post, November 23, 2025:

A new X/Twitter feature revealing the application store country registry and location of social media accounts has raised concern about foreign influence and the authenticity of users engaged in polarized online debates, including the Arab-Israeli conflict and antisemitism...

Since the rollout, X users have uncovered scores of accounts with a mismatch between claimed identity and actual location. A myriad of high-following, anti-Israel, nameless accounts have now been revealed to be based in Turkey or Pakistan...

Commentary: This is yet another devastating blow to the entirely fabricated “genocide in Gaza” narrative. For over a year the world has been bombarded with tear-jerking “eyewitness” testimonies of Israeli atrocities—testimonies that turn out to have been written not by starving Gazans huddled under rubble, but by comfortable propagandists in Pakistan, Turkey, Indonesia, Nigeria, and the Netherlands. Fake “genocide” required fake “eyewitnesses,” and Elon Musk’s new location tool has just pulled the mask off the entire grotesque performance.

A popular Palestinian journalist – Mohammad Smiry – who has nearly 1 million followers and claims to be in Gaza tweeting about ‘life under occupation’ is geolocated to Indonesia...

Commentary: Mohammad Smiry's laughable “my brother in Indonesia” excuse collapses the moment one remembers he personally signed posts claiming live reporting from the West Bank. Another pillar of the fake-genocide industry crumbles—another paid influencer exposed as a fraud.

Many of the accounts of private individuals claiming to be living through the ‘genocide’ in Gaza are not in fact located in Gaza, or Palestine. Ameer in Gaza posts about starving and asks for donations, but is geolocated to the UK. Mahmoud in Gaza is in the Netherlands. “Dima Alghrbawi” raised $34,000 while operating from Nigeria…

Commentary: The fake-genocide narrative has always rested on two pillars: fabricated atrocity stories and fraudulent fundraising. Both are now collapsing in real time. Nigerian scam rings, Pakistani troll farms, and European Hamas sympathizers have been masquerading as destitute Gazans to extract money and sympathy. Every dollar sent to these impostors was a dollar stolen from genuine humanitarian aid and a bullet added to the blood libel against Israel.

Final Commentary: Thanks to Elon Musk, the world can finally see the industrial-scale deception behind the “Gaza genocide” hoax: a lie so vast it required thousands of fake eyewitnesses typing from thousands of miles away. With one simple location flag, the entire house of cards is tumbling—exposing not only the scammers and propagandists, but the staggering gullibility of those who amplified their lies. Israel fights real terrorists with real bullets; its enemies fight with fake victims and fake tears. Today, truth won. Bravo, Elon Musk.
