Nerdeen Kiswani: The Architect of Anti-Israel Hatred and Antisemitic Disruption in New York
Nerdeen Kiswani, a self-proclaimed Palestinian activist born and raised in New York City, has built a notorious career on unbridled racism, glorification of terrorism, and direct assaults on Jewish memory and safety. As the co-founder and chair of Within Our Lifetime (WOL)—a radical anti-Israel group that evolved from the virulently biased Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP)—Kiswani has spearheaded efforts to demonize Israel, support Hamas atrocities, and incite violence against Jews under the guise of “pro-Palestinian” advocacy.
Her actions reveal not a quest for justice, but a deep-seated antisemitism that echoes the very hatreds Israel was born to combat. From desecrating Holocaust remembrances to cheering the October 7, 2023 massacre that slaughtered 1,200 innocents, Kiswani’s trajectory is a stark reminder of how anti-Zionism too often serves as a Trojan horse for Jew-hatred. In a city like New York, home to vibrant Jewish communities and Israel’s staunchest allies, her campaigns threaten the democratic values that make America a beacon for freedom-loving peoples everywhere.
The Birth of Hate: Disrupting a Holocaust Commemoration in 2015
Kiswani’s public descent into infamy began on January 22, 2015, when she and a cadre of pro-Palestinian radicals stormed a New York City Council meeting commemorating the 70th anniversary of Auschwitz’s liberation. As council members honored the 1.1 million victims (90% Jewish), Kiswani’s group unfurled a Palestinian flag and screamed slogans against a planned council trip to Israel.
“I am still shaken, upset and angry… While we were discussing the murder of 1.1 million human beings… they had the chutzpah, the nerve, the temerity, to unfurl a Palestinian flag and yell at us… What we saw here was naked, blind antisemitism… Because Hitler did not finish the job. He only wiped out half of my family.”
— Councilman David G. Greenfield
Council members across the political spectrum condemned the outburst as “incredibly disrespectful,” “offensive,” and “counter to the values of the City Council.” Republican Councilman Eric Ulrich declared: “Israel is a vibrant democracy… I will not sit here and allow people to attack the Jews.”
