The UNHRC’s permanent inquiry commission on Israel “emanates from a politically generated resolution, sponsored by members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and led by paragons of humanitarian virtue such as Pakistan and the ‘State of Palestine,’ as part of an ongoing campaign of delegitimization against one member state of the U.N.—Israel.”
“The motivation behind those states…has absolutely nothing to do with advancing global human rights…[the resolution] alleges and assumes that Israel, and only Israel, violates international human-rights law and international humanitarian law and indulges in ‘systematic discrimination and repression.’” |

Note: The OIC does not formally “control” the UN Security Council (where the U.S., UK, France, Russia, and China hold veto power). However, its 57 members represent roughly 30% of General Assembly votes and, through highly disciplined bloc voting, consistently dominate the Human Rights Council and drive the overwhelming majority of anti-Israel resolutions. The 2022 establishment of the UNHRC’s permanent “Commission of Inquiry” against Israel—sponsored and pushed exclusively by OIC states—remains the clearest recent example of this partisan political motivation overriding universal human-rights principles.
